Kidville Gets In The Holiday Spirit By Giving Back

kidville-logoGet ready to jump into the holiday spirit! Kidville is partnering with the non-profit organization Second Chance Toys to help families give back this holiday season!

For the first two weeks of December, select Kidville locations throughout New York City will be accepting plastic toy donations for the nonprofit organization Second Chance Toys. From December 4-11, children can bring their old plastic toys to these donation sites to make a difference in not only another child’s life, but in the environment as well.

Second Chance Toys was founded in 2006 by Sasha Lipton who at the time was a New Jersey high school student. Since its formation, it has donated more than 200,000 toys to children in need. Second Chance Toys was also formed as a way to clean up the environment. Plastic toys are not biodegradable. When they are thrown away, they will sit in landfills. By donating plastic toys, they will be reused by other children rather than contaminating the environment.

In addition to serving as drop-off centers, select Kidville locations will be hosting special “DCP” events on December 10. DCP stands for donate, clean and play. At these events, children that are donating toys will clean, tag and place their toys in a donation bin. Afterwards, they will be able to play in one of the participating Kidville locations’ playspace.

“It’s so important to teach our children about giving back and protecting the environment at a young age,” states Kidville President Rammy Harwood in a Kidville press release. “Second Chance Toys makes it easy for us as parents to explain both of these concepts in a simple way that children will understand.”

genesis_sctoys_logoKidville is a center where newborns and children up to six years old can come to take developmental classes, art classes, music and dance classes, or sport camps. The center also hosts birthday parties and has an indoor playspace where children can interact with other kids in a supervised area. By partnering with Second Chance Toys, Kidville will continue to help children learn about the world around them in a fun, interactive way.
