Think of this as a grand flea market for local parents–especially those with young kids, who have collected a hodgepodge of stuff at a fast rate over the past few years. In a most unprecedented but delightful spirit, 14 parent “Meet-Ups” from around the city have joined forces to organize a
gigantic “Spring Cleaning Buy/Sell/Swap of Baby and Kids Toys and Clothes” at a easy-to-commute-to warehouse in Long Island City on Sunday, April 1 from 10am
to 2pm. —
Sellers pay between $10 and $40 depending on the size of
the table. Buyers just show up and enjoy!%uFFFD
We love this because of the role that “Meet-Ups”
play in helping neighborhood parents meet each other, especially when the kids
are very young and other community institutions like school or camp haven’t
kicked in yet.%uFFFD
[If you are not familiar with Meet-Up phenomenon, the
best way to get a handle on it is simply to visit meetup.com and search around.%uFFFD
It’s basically a digital mecca that allows people with similar interests to form
groups which often include get-togethers organized by members of the Meet-Up.]

For the big event on Sunday, organizers are “expecting
tons of outgrown baby- and kids-clothes, shoes, toys, strollers, scooters,
joggers, high chairs, booster seats, baby monitors, and–not to
forget–exersaucers, snugglies and jumperoos.”
DETAILS: Doors open at 9am for sellers
and 10am for the general public. The warehouse is located at 2109 Borden
Avenue (and was chosen because of it being easy to commute to and central to
other parts of the city.)
FOR MORE INFO: Contact info@fantasmarama.com or call 718
729 6400.
TRAVEL: Please note that the warehouse is close to
the G-train and the Pulaski Bridge, the Midtown Tunnel, and the
Long Island Expressway (Van Dam Street exit). There will be lots of easy street
parking in area and around the building. Signs and air balloons will announce
the event in front of the building.
Enjoy!
