Abrakadoodle, the nation’s largest arts education program for children ages 20 months to 12 years, now offers classes in Suffolk. If there isn’t a class that fits your schedule, Owner Lisa Albert will work with you to create one. Abrakadoodle also offers in-home birthday parties with art activities and lessons.
Albert emphasizes Abrakadoodle is not just arts and crafts, although that is, of course, part of the programming. It is about art education. She aims to teach art vocabulary and the techniques of major artists while incorporating music and books into every class. Classes are given at every age group, integrating focused activities for each developmental stage and promoting growth in fine motor skills. These classes give kids the ability to write with a pen or pencil and ensure that they will not be held back in writing. Albert stresses that art education is not only fun, but also important in developing critical mechanics and as a result, it is beneficial to start your child in an art education class early on.
Abrakadoodle runs a number of different classes at the New Beginnings Early Start Center at 180 Lawrence Road in Kings Park and the Smithtown Library at 3 Indian Head Road in Commack in addition to other locations where programming is available.
