Act As If Etiquette & Protocol is adding venues in Northport and Oyster Bay, at which children ages 4 and older will be able to take etiquette classes starting in October.
Act As If Etiquette & Protocol serves children and adults through kids’ etiquette classes, young adult programs, and adult workshops. The business strives to teach modern manners for modern times by helping students develop necessary social skills.
Joan Jerkens, owner of Act As If Etiquette & Protocol, says she teaches her students to “Treat others how you would like to be treated, and try to face everyday situations with grace, integrity, and confidence.”
At Act As If Etiquette & Protocol, students learn these skills through engaging classes such as Table Manners, one of Jerken’s most popular offerings. Programs vary based on age, as Jerkens teaches children through adults. Parents can choose for children to attend a series of classes, or pick and choose which classes they’d like them to attend. Classes generally last 45 minutes to an hour and parents are welcome to attend. Act As If Etiquette & Protocol also offers seminars and workshops for businesses and organizations.
In addition to classes held at different venues, parents can also choose to host private or group etiquette lessons for their child or a group of children, led by Jerkens. The topic of the class can be geared toward the median age of the group attending.
“In this highly competitive world, the one who demonstrates good manners and social skills will have a distinct advantage,” Jerkens says.
