This summer Barking Cat Studio presents its first summer day camp, Art in the City. Along with playing fun and friendly games, children will visit museums and parks as well as take walks around the city that can inspire
studio art projects.
The eight-week program will take place from July 2 to Aug. 24 for children between the ages of 4 and 10, with flexibility to register for fewer weeks if you would like. Children will play games, learn, create, explore, build, and imagine, says Karen Merbaum, owner and creative director of Barking Cat Studio. “But most of all, they will have fun,” she says.
Each week the day camp will have a different theme, such as Puppets! Puppets! Puppets!, All About Clay, and Sky Scrapper, Sculpture + 3D Exploration, where children will learn while discovering new ways to create art.
Barking Cat Studio encourages children to practice teamwork and use the environment to inspire new art while building their self-esteem, Merbaum says. “The camp is about art and adventure,” she says. “While kids are having fun they will also be passively learning.”
Registration is now open with limited space at Barking Cat Studio. Seasonal art workshops are also available for children and adults.
