The Horticultural Society of New York will celebrate the season with a blooming ballroom of splashing color and sweet scents of spring at the annual New York Flower Show and Dinner Dance on April 28. The theme is Great Gardens, as thirty of the tri-state area’s premier floral, fashion, and interior designers transform the Pierre Hotel’s ballroom with towering tabletop flower displays.
The Hort’s annual celebration highlights the influence of garden design in society and the importance of flowers in our city landscape. The evening honors individuals who have contributed to the Hort’s continued mission of cultivating urban gardeners.
Founded in 1902, the Hort is also “cultivating” a younger generation of gardeners with new programming and family membership. The family circle offers a kids benefit party, speaker luncheons, excursions and special events—with families in mind. “By starting the family membership we continue to develop interesting programming for all ages,” says Hort deputy director George Pisegna. That’s flower power.
