Nickelodeon is bringing back an old favorite, Blue’s Clues, and I could not be more excited for my kids (and me) to watch the remake.
According to a press release, Nickeoldeon will start filming the show this summer and is holding an open casting call for a potential new “Steve,” or perhaps a “Stephanie.” On Saturday, April 14, 2018 in Burbank, CA, the studio will hold open auditions for “females and males who can play 18-25 years old, all ethnicities.” The casting notice also goes on to state that the host should have a comedic background and natural connection with the camera. Singing or juggling is a plus. After all, one of the best things about this show is its interactive nature!
“With Blue’s Clues, Nickelodeon launched what became TV’s first generation of interactivity for preschoolers and set the bar for quality, curriculum-driven shows we have made since. The new, modern version of Blue’s Clues will capture all the original’s creativity and visual identity for a whole new audience ready for its fun adventures and expertly designed problem-solving curriculum,” Cyma Zarghami, President, Nickelodeon Group, said in the press release.
The new show will defnitely have a more modern feel with new production, new set, and new animatated features. However, Blue will still be a female puppy and the show will center around her. The press release states, “The new Blue’s Clues series centers on the energetic girl puppy Blue who invites viewers into her animated world to help solve the day’s puzzles with the help of a live-action host. Preschoolers are encouraged to interact with the action on-screen by answering questions, pointing out clues, jumping on their feet and playing along.”
I sincerly hope many of the songs and jingles will remain in the new version. I can’t wait to sing, “We just figured out Blue’s Clues,” with my boys.
Keep checking the Nickelodeon website for updates.
