The Brookland Fairies, a children’s birthday party planning company based in Manhattan, will release the first book in its new fairy tale series. The book by a local author aims to get kids to believe in magical thinking.
Jenna Driggers brings fairy tales to life with The Brookland Fairies, a kid’s party and event planning company based in Manhattan. On June 23, the company will release the first book in the Brookland Fairies Bedtime series, titled Gwen’s Story.
The series—co-authored by Driggers and Amanda Gracia and illustrated by Zoë Mack—will tell the story of the fairies of Brookland, “a magical world” Driggers says she created to inspire children to believe in the power of magical thinking. In the first book, which will be sold on the company’s website and Amazon.com, a little girl named Natalie meets a fairy named Gwen on her way to a surprise birthday party. The stories, Driggers says, are meant to delight and inspire children to believe in the power of magical thinking while teaching important lessons along the way.
Driggers says she hopes to turn the Bedtime Series into a web series with animations and cartoons.
“We are trying to bring a little magic into these kids’ lives,” says Driggers, who is the brainchild behind the business. The company provides themed birthday parties to kids ages 3-16. “We do everything from the invitations to the decorations, the food, dessert, goodie bags—it’s a one-stop shop.” Celebrations can be hosted at home or at an outside venue in any borough. To provide the ultimate experience, kids can choose from 42 fun themes, including robot parties, camp outs, dinosaur parties and, of course, fairy parties. The company also has options for tweens and teens, according to Driggers.
Each party is 3 hours long and comes complete with its own fairy to help make the day special for the birthday boy or girl. “The fairy is there so the kids (and parents) can enjoy the celebration,” Driggers says.
