Show Up, Kids! Interactive Family Comedy
Location: The RAT, 68 Jay St., Suite 117, DUMBO

Following its success with packed audiences from NYC to Hollywood, the interactive family comedy “Show Up, Kids!” is making its Brooklyn debut at The Rat NYC in DUMBO. This semi-improvised musical is aimed at kids aged 3-10 and adds a humorous twist to the typical kids’ show. When the main performer doesn’t show up, the host turns to the audience for help, allowing kids (and their grownups) to take charge of everything—from the plot and props to characters, costumes, and even the sound. The result is a fun, 45-minute laugh-filled experience that’s unique and full of surprises.
Alice in Wonderland
Location: Puppetworks Inc, 338 Sixth Avenue (at 4th Street)
Date/Time: Saturdays and Sundays, 12:30 pm & 2:30 pm, through April 19
Price: $12; $11 for children
This is a 55-minute adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s classic English adventure, told through marionettes. The performance is suggested for children ages 3 and up, offering a unique way to experience the familiar story with puppetry. It’s a simple, yet captivating way to explore Alice’s journey through Wonderland.
Black Future Festival
Location: Brooklyn Children’s Museum, 145 Brooklyn Ave.

Join BCM for a week filled with reflection and future-focused fun, inspired by the national celebration of Black History Month and the African Diaspora! In partnership with Kendra J. Bostock and STooPS, BCM will honor Black culture through a variety of exciting events, including captivating dance performances, powerful storytelling, dynamic workshops, and much more. It’s an opportunity to celebrate and learn about the rich history, creativity, and contributions of the Black community in a meaningful and engaging way.
A Black History Month Family Singalong & Celebration
Location: Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, 58 Seventh Avenue
Date/Time: February 21, 4 pm – 4:45 pm
Price: Suggested donation: $8
Families are invited to join in a special sing-along at BKCM’s Concert Hall in honor of Black History Month. This interactive, multimedia event is designed for little ones ages 2-6 and their families. Hosted by BKCM faculty member Uton Onyejekwe, who also serves as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the event will feature live music by BKCM faculty member Lafayette Harris.
During the sing-along, children will have the chance to explore the contributions of influential Black musicians and civil rights leaders in American history. Through song, dance, and video, the event will highlight how Black artists have creatively reimagined popular stories, songs, and even classroom concepts. The sing-along will also showcase various genres from the Black American musical tradition, including jazz, R&B, and hip-hop. The suggested contribution is $8 per ticket. If families are able to contribute more, it will help support BKCM’s mission to keep its musical events accessible to all New Yorkers. However, if a reduced amount is needed, they are more than welcome to attend at whatever level works for them.
Kids Week: Survival Skills for Kids
Location: Fort Greene Park Visitor Center, Willoughby Ave. & Washington Park
Date/Time: February 19, noon – 1 pm
Price: Free
As part of Kids Week, children are invited to participate in an exciting survival skills workshop led by expert park rangers. The program will focus on hands-on, practical survival techniques, starting with a demonstration of how to start a fire without matches. Afterward, kids will have the opportunity to try it themselves in a safe and supervised environment. The rangers will also teach essential shelter-building skills, providing the materials and guidance for children to practice constructing their own shelters in the wild.
The Chocolate Makery
Location: Jewish Children’s Museum, 792 Eastern Pkwy
Date/Time: Mondays – Thursdays, 10 am – 4 pm; Sundays, 10 am – 5:30 pm, through February 18
Price: $19 (ages 2 and older); $17 (adults)
At the Jewish Children’s Museum, children and their families can immerse themselves in a five-sensory experience exploring the world of chocolate. Participants will learn how chocolate is made, starting from the cocoa pod all the way to the creamy, delicious final product. The experience includes hands-on activities where children can harvest cocoa pods, grind and roast beans, and finish by decorating their very own chocolate creations. It’s an interactive, fun way to discover the magic behind chocolate!
