Brooklyn Treehouse Preschool in Park Slope will open for 2-, 3-, and 4-years-olds in November. The preschool incorporates both the New York State Common Core and a thematic approach in its curriculum to reach a balance between teacher-directed and child-directed activities.
“I have a deep respect for children as unique individuals, so children’s needs are always placed first,” says Lisa Armentano, owner and educational director of Brooklyn Treehouse Preschool. “I’m very, very passionate about children being comfortable enough in a new environment to learn how to take risks, to build confidence, to learn to speak up for themselves, and to learn how to develop socially and emotionally.”
The goal of the preschool is to nurture each child’s individuality to ensure that they not only reach, but also exceed their potential. Children will have the opportunity to build a strong foundation of basic skills while they are exploring their creativity and stimulating their curiosity.
Armentano says children are self-motivated, hands-on active learners by nature. Instead of offering abstract learning experiences, she wants to help children really love learning through hands on experiences in the areas of language arts, science, math, music, art, and dramatic play.
The preschool has three classrooms, a movement room, a multimedia room, and an outdoor space. Parents can choose a two-, three-, or five-day schedule, as well as before- and after-care for their children.
