Candelighters NYC Childhood Cancer Foundation Announces Lineup for 13th Annual Hero Celebration

On April 9, CandelightersNYC will host its 13th Annual Hero Celebration honoring kids who are battling cancer. The event will take place from 5-9pm in the Loeb Boathouse in Central Park and all proceeds will go toward benefiting CandelightersNYC.

This year the organization is welcoming characters from Disney Junior’s hit show PJ Masks. Kids will be able to enjoy a meet-and-greet with the characters Owlette, Catboy, and Gekko!

“PJ Masks and CandlelightersNYC have teamed up for a super 2018,” said Julie Powell Christopher, VP of Marketing, North America for eOne Family & Brands. “We’re happy to help spread the word about this fantastic organization, and are thrilled to have our heroic trio be a part of the annual Hero Celebration event that brings joy to so many children and families in the area.”

Here’s what else you can expect at the event:

  • A performance by the magician, Amazing Max
  • The Big Apple Circus dogs
  • New York City Ballet principal dancer Ashley Hod
  • The O’Malley Irish Step Dancers
  • Face painting
  • Photo booths
  • Arts and crafts
  • Toy-filled play tables
  • Larger-than-life dessert bar for “kids” of all ages
Guests will also be able to cheer on the amazing Parade of Heroes, which honors the children currently fighting cancer.

“The Hero Celebration is a great moment to support our pediatric cancer heroes in a fun-filled, family oriented evening,” said Barbara Zobian, Executive Director and Founder, Candlelighters NYC. “Our 13th year brings PJ Masks, along with other world-class entertainment, as we convey a message of support and bravery. It’s an amazing opportunity to share the real heroes of the world with your children.”
