Some of the 80 children’s book authors and illustrators who will be participating include: Bruce Degen, illustrator of the Magic School Bus series; Ron Barrett, illustrator of Cloudy With a Chance of MeatballsVictoria Kann, author and illustrator of Pinkalicious; Gail Carson Levine, author of Ella Enchanted; and Rosemary Wells, author and illustrator of the Max and Ruby series.

“The Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival is a celebration of children, families, community, and literacy,” said Dawn Greenberg, a Chappaqua resident and one of the event’s volunteer organizers, in a press relelase. “Our mission is to encourage, promote, and celebrate the joy of reading, while fostering a love of books, stimulating imaginations, and opening new worlds to our children. The festival offers a sampling of books for the entire family, from toddlers to teens.”

The first festival will be dedicated to the memory of Jean Craighead George, author of Julie of The Wolves and a former Chappaqua resident. “It is important for us to honor such a prolific and important Chappaqua writer for our first children’s book festival,” said Greenburg in the press release. “At the festival, we will be displaying many of her books, which express her love and concern for the environment and all living things.”

Robert Bell Middle School is located at 108 Allen Place directly across from the Chappaqua train station. For more information visit ccbfestival.org.
