What child wouldn’t love to be whisked away on a colorful adventure to outer space with a character that’s meant to resemble them in their very own personalized book? With the holidays quickly approaching and gift givers always on the hunt for the coolest and most unique, next best thing for birthdays–trust me when I tell you, your search is over!
My children and I (my 4-year-old and my 10-year-old) were recently invited to an out-of-this-world space-themed party, hosted by Liz and Kristen of Cool Mom Picks. Mini astronauts, friendly aliens and humans (that were just too cool to dress up) were introduced to the latest book from the Lost My Name collection—The Incredible Intergalactic Journey Home, which is making its debut here in the U.S. Parents will really appreciate that this new read encourages STEM-based learning and gets children excited about science exploration.
At our arrival the kids each received a passport and had the choice of wearing a really cool and extremely authentic looking astronaut space suit and cap or alien antennas before starting their adventure. We were greeted by silly looking aliens who served space juice and the kids got crafty by designing their own rocket launchers and starry night scenes of outer space. From photobooth antics and Tattly temporary tattoos, to mini ice cream cones and grilled cheese sandwiches displayed like planets, the afternoon was the highlight of our weekend.
Guests at the launch party who got first glimpses of the book were beyond mesmerized by the beautiful imagery page after page. The main character–a child who shares the same name as the child reading–ends up getting lost in space with his little robot friend and they discover that they are not the only ones out there. Kids of all ages will have a blast when they see their name spelled out and scattered across the page as shimmering comets. My 10-year-old, CJ, thought it was pretty darn awesome that in each book there’s an up-close picture of the readers home based on views used from NASA’s open source photography of outer space (similar to Google Earth). These amazingly special detailed features guarantee that no two books will look the same as the mini space explorer catches glimpses of their neighborhood as they make their way home.
The Incredible Intergalactic Journey Home will have your kids looking forward to a Super (nova) bedtime story, night after night! The book can be ordered online for only $29.95 and shipping is free (unless you need it sooner and then you can have it expedited). Learn more at lostmy.name/books/thejourneyhome!
Disclosure: I received a voucher for each child to have their own book and no other compensation was received.
