After 17 years of running A Whole New World Academy in Hoboken, New Jersey, executive director Bernard Davidson opened a new branch in Park Slope this month. Ages 2-5 will have their own classroom, credentialed educator, and developmental goals.
The Park Slope location will feature the Mother Goose Time program, a research-based early learning curriculum. Students will work on emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development through developmentally appropriate projects. They will also learn about family, pets, and kindness through music, art, storytelling, exploration, books and more.
Each week will have a module that focuses on a single monthly theme. Throughout this month, children can expect to learn about family, pets, and kindness.
Children will stay in their classroom for one hour each morning, and then do 30-minute circulating block activities. The daycare has a music room, computer room, STEM room and a playhouse. Different activities include piano, computers, and playing in the tool shop, lego area, or doll house. When the weather is nice, children will take a short walk to Prospect Park for outdoor activities. Otherwise, indoor gym with mats, hula hoops, and other games.
Each classroom has a comfortable area for children to relax when they need a break. School is open weekdays from 9am-3pm, but parents have the option for extended care between 7-9am and 3-7pm.
