I had a happily-ever-after adventure at “Disney Live! Three Classic Fairytales” presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt. I was mesmerized as three Disney favorites bounced from my books and onto the big stage right before my beautiful, blue eyes: “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Cinderella,” and “Beauty and the Beast.” Be prepared to be awestruck by the set, super sing-alongs, divine dance numbers, and audience interaction with the stars of the show. Trust me, your little princes and princesses are going to love it!
I was captivated from the start with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy reading these treasured stories from a magical book and leading the audience on this magical journey. It all began with Snow White’s tale coming alive on stage. The stage looked just like my story book but better and Snow White is even more perfect in person. She immediately burst into a song about wishes (there were real, live birds were on her wishing well) and daydreams that someday a handsome prince would take her away to his castle. How dreamy! But then it’s all smoke and mirrors (literally) as we see Snow White’s wicked stepmother, the Queen, and her magic mirror. The mirror talks (wow!) and the queen asks the mirror the famous question: who is the fairest of them all? And naturally the mirror says Snow White. And it gets better and better from there.
Before I could boo the queen one more time, the Seven Dwarves appeared and they were so darn cute! From the second they started singing “Heigh Ho!” everyone was singing, clapping and dancing along. But before I knew it, it was the infamous apple sequence. Snow White asked us in the audience if she should eat it and we all said no! She asked again if we were sure and we all still said no way! But guess what? After all the yelling and sage advice to help Snow White, she didn’t listen. She forgot her listening ears! Thank goodness Mickey and Minnie knew she could be saved with love’s first kiss. Do you think her Prince comes and kisses her? You’ll have to see the show to find out.
Next, it was my favorite princess story in all of the land, Cinderella. On stage there were amazing characters, costumes and special effects that made it extraordinary. My favorite mice friends (besides Mickey and Minnie of course), Gus and Jaq, were adorable puppets that made everyone smile as they popped out of surprising places to help Cinderella. But the best part was when Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother came with twinkling lights, blue magic dust and real sparks and fireworks went flying. She poofed Cinderella into a princess and into the most amazing (yet classic) blue princess gown right on stage. I was duly impressed! Then the Fairy Godmother asked if we could help make the magic so I even got to sing-along and say those three magical words that we all know and love: “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!”
Once midnight came around, the magic wore off and Goofy was worried about how the prince would find Cinderella if he didn’t know her name or where she lived. That Goofy is so smart. And Minnie asked if anyone else was missing a shoe. And so many friends in the audience were. It would be harder for the prince to find Cinderella than we thought but don’t sweat it because it all works out.
Last but not least was the story of the Belle and Beast. The show stopping number here was “Be Our Guest.” I’d never seen life-size, gold Forks and spoons sing and dance. And I won’t spoil all the fun but let me just say there is a kick line involved. Also, the Beast’s time was represented by the enchanted rose that magically floated on stage surrounded by glitter and swirls. I watched it with a careful eye since it symbolized the time remaining for Belle and the Beast to fall in love. It was quite an emotional roller-coaster for me…I laughed and cried and loved it all!
The grand finale featured all the princesses with their theme songs playing and their glittery silver costumes shining. It was mind-blowing! The princes and princesses all danced along with Mickey and Minnie and friends to “So This is Love.” And I simply fell in love with the show. I was happily reminded that happy endings do happen and dreams do come true!
