Jessica Herwick recently joined the Cornel Cooperative Extension as Farm Manager where the DPF 4-H Camp of Nassau County is run. She has made significant improvements to the farm and expanded its program to include new produce like herb gardens, asparagus, pumpkins, and strawberries.
Herwick had been with the Philadelphia County Master Gardeners, 4-H, and the Penn State Cooperative Extension for the past 5 years before becoming farm manager. She is most excited to be a part of the 4-H experience and is looking forward to enlightening young minds and guiding visitors to disconnect from their technology for a while and reconnect to the many wonders of nature that surround them everyday on the DPF Camp Farm.
DPF 4-H Camp is a 140 acre co-ed sleep-away camp for campers ages 8-16. The camp is located on the Long Island Sound in Riverhead, NY. It is accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed and inspected by the Suffolk County Department of Health. It is committed to offering campers a high quality educational program.
There is availability in all summer sessions, however space is limited. Tuition is currently $685.00 and new registrants must pay in full at the time of registration now that the summer season is upon us. Registration is ongoing throughout the summer.
