Elite Minds Montessori completed construction on its new preschool in January, and is currently accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year. The preschool’s curriculum will be dual-language, taught in French and English.
“Our school is strictly Montessori, green—as in environmentally aware (no bags, no paper)—and bi-lingual in French and English, with a strong arts curriculum,” says Natania Cortijo, educational director.
The preschool curriculum will focus on the five areas of Montessori learning: practical life skills, sensory activities, mathematics, literacy, and cultural studies. Students will learn the alphabet, numbers, days of the week, colors, weather, and more in English and French, and the afternoon will include French songs and a French Artist study. Between the uninterrupted learning sessions, students will play outside in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
For the school year, children, ages 2½-5, can be enrolled in two-, three-, or five-day programs, in either full or half days. Tuition rates vary depending on which schedule is the child is enrolled in. Extended hours are available for an additional fee.
Before beginning its regular school classes in September, the Montessori school will offer a summer program from July 9-Aug. 17 for ages 2½-5. Registration for the summer program, with an early-bird discount available until April 30, is also currently open.
