M.E. Smiles Dental and Erica Fish, D.D.S., is scheduled to host a Take Your American Girl Doll to the Dentist event this fall. The goal of the event is to teach proper dental hygiene techniques for good oral health and to reduce kids’ anxiety about visiting the dentist.

M.E. Smiles Dental is scheduled to host its first ever Take Your American Girl Doll to the Dentist event on Sunday, Oct. 26. During this event, Erica Fish, D.D.S., will give every doll a dental check-up. There will also be face painting, healthy snacks, story time and goodie bags. At the end of the event, there will be a raffle and one girl will win an American Girl toothbrush.
As with regular appointments for the doll’s ‘mommies’, the doll patients will get their teeth examined and cleaned and have a fluoride treatment. The doll’s ‘mommies’ will be encouraged to brush their doll’s teeth the same way that they would brush their own. The girls will be taught the proper way to brush the dolls teeth, so even though they think they are learning about their doll’s teeth, they are really learning about their own.
“[From this event] we want the girls to take away that the dental environment is a comfortable and happy place,” Dr. Fish says. “We’re hoping to ease anxieties about going to the dentist and make it fun. By watching their dolls get their teeth checked out, girls will see that going to the dentist isn’t so scary.”
The free event will run from 10am-12pm by appointment.
