Got a bit of cabin fever during this arctic weather we’re having? Hankering after something to do with the kids this week? We’ve got you covered with these event picks! Stop by the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum for their Kids Week, watch incredible breakdancing talent at Symphony Space, prepare for a day of medieval fun during Armor Day at Wave Hill, keep the Lunar New Year celebrations going with a family fest at MOCA, and visit Brooklyn for a happenin’ house party. Kids Week
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
10am-5pm
This year, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum’s annual Kids Week will be all about Extreme Environments! Participants will learn how NASA researches earth’s climates, meet scientists, and learn how robots are designed for space exploration. Plus, there will be engaging shows in the pop-up planetarium, science presentations, hands-on workshops, and special guests each day. Free with museum admission; regular museum activities such as Guided Tours and simulator rides require an additional fee.

Saturday, February 20

“Beats, Rhymes and Breaking”
Symphony Space
11am & 2pm
The Manzana City Crew is returning to Symphony Space after two sold-out performances last year for its “Beats, Rhymes, & Breaking” show. The Crew will show off their amazing breakdancing skills in this show full of excitement, spins, windmills, pop-and-locking, and more. Tickets are $15.

Armor Day
Wave Hill
11am-3pm
All ages are invited to travel back in time to when knights roamed the land in search of quests and adventure during Armor Day at Wave Hill. Guests can watch archery and fencing demos, try on armor, and view scholar Bashford Dean’s collection of armor and arms in the garden’s Armor Hall. This event is free and garden admission is free until 12pm.

Lunar New Year Family Festival
Museum of Chinese in America
11am-4pm
Monkey around the Museum of Chinese in America this Saturday during its Lunar New Year Family Festival! The museum will host an array of activities for families with children of all ages in celebration of the Year of the Monkey. Festivities include a lion dance performance by the Columbia University Lion Dance troupe, a hand-pulled noodle demo, face painting, a photo corner, a performance from the Red Silk Dancers, a banana scavenger hunt, storytimes, arts and crafts workshops, and much more. Tickets are $10; children under the age of 2 are free.

Hack-a-thon House Party
BRIC
12pm-5pm
Grab your friends and family for a house party in Brooklyn! BRIC’s Hack-a-thon House Party will feature an afternoon of games, scavenger hunts, video game activities, live music, and more. The event will conclude with a dance party for all presented by Baby Loves Disco. This event is free. Reservations are required.
