Grab your shades and head outside this weekend for these epic, kid-friendly NYC events! The highly-anticipated opening of Governors Island’s The Hills will take place this week, followed by such annual shindigs as High Line Honey Day, Lincoln Center Out of Doors Family Day, Asphalt Green’s Sprinkler Day, and Pier 6 Family Field Day in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Opening Tuesday, July 19

The Hills Opening Day
Governors Island
10am-6pm
Governors Island’s The Hills will open to the public this Tuesday! Designed by premier landscape architect group West 8, The Hills will offer 360-degree views of New York Harbor and a permanent installation by British artist Rachel Whiteread. Encompassing four hills, one of which—Slide Hill—will be home to the longest slide in the city, you won’t want to miss out on the views from these new hilltops! This event is free.

Saturday, July 23

High Line Honey Day
The High Line
9am-5pm
The High Line and BeeKind Farms are pairing up to bring beekeepers and honey from all five boroughs in one place for a honey market! Come learn about beekeepers and hives, and watch bees communicate with each other. Family-friendly activities will take place throughout the day. Plus, don’t forget to take home some local honey. Sweet! Please use the 14th Street Passage entrance. This event is free.

Pier 6 Family Field Day
Brooklyn Bridge Park
10am-2pm
Have a fun-filled, action-packed Saturday with your family and participate in volleyball games, a bean bag toss, and relay races at Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. All ages are welcome! This event is free.

Lincoln Center Out of Doors Family Day
Lincoln Center
11am-3pm
Family Day hosted by Lincoln Center Out of Doors will be a day full of dancing and music. Start off with a block party with Illstyle & Peace Productions, watch a performance by the Dance Theatre of Harlem Company and School, and then wrap up your busy afternoon with a concert from She’s a Rebel: The Girl Group Project. Sprinkler Day
Asphalt Green
1pm-3pm
This Saturday, get some relief from the summer heat during Asphalt Green’s annual Sprinkler Day. Starting at 1pm, your kids can frolic in the sprinkler spray on the outdoor field of the center’s Upper East Side campus. Don’t forget to bring a towel, and grab a free flavored ice on your way out! This event is free.

Adventuring Portal

<p><a name="m_-1473885667065203258__Hlk72147528"></a>Adventuring Portal runs Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) games for kids.   We have created a safe online space for tweens and teens to learn and play D&D.</p> <p>Our D&D Summer Camp session are a one-week experience.  Monday – Friday.  Each day will be 3 hours of gaming (with 2 breaks build in).  15 total gaming hours for $180.  If you have played with us before, you are entitled to 10% off.   </p> <p>Need your kids, nieces or nephews, grand kids or neighbor’s kids to be occupied for a bit so you can get work done & take care of your to-do list? Maybe your tween or teen is still a bit isolated and craves connection with their peers? Whether your teen/tween has played D&D before or is brand-new to the experience, this safe space brings players together to have fun and solve problems as a team in ways few other online opportunities do.</p> <p>All our games focus on experiential learning.   Our players leave knowing all the basic game play as well as experiencing: teamwork, bravery, compassion, generosity, negotiation, improvisation, gamer etiquette, strategy, critical thinking, problem solving, cartography and probability - all through online D&D adventuring!</p> <p>We are an inclusive organization and welcome gamers who are LGBTQIA+ and those on any spectrum. </p> <p>All girls’ groups available. </p> <p>I am a parent, a certified elementary school and middle school math teacher and last summer in the midst of the mess started Adventuring Portal, an online Dungeons & Dragons business for kids. There are so many benefits to playing D&D and I hope you will consider us as a great way for your child to safely socialize, grow as people and have a great time.</p>

Dance Workshop - NY
