Check out an awesome cardboard “explosion” at Symphony Space, a rollicking island adventure at Skylight Modern, and a dreamy show for the younger set at the New 42nd Street Studios. Gingerbread Lane, the incredible, edible village of gingerbread houses, will return to the New York Hall of Science this Saturday for the duration of the holiday season! This holiday creation was planned, built, and crafted by chef Jon Lovitch whose 2013, 2014 and 2015 villages won the Guinness World Record for “largest gingerbread village.” Check out this year’s tasty creations which will once again vie for the world record title. Visitors can also participate in Gingerbread Lane House-Building workshops on select dates. Runs through Sunday, January 15, 2017. Free with hall admission.
“Paper Dreams”

What happens when untold, lost and forgotten story ideas come to life? Find out during Mons Dansa’s production of “Paper Dreams” at the New 42nd Street Studios. Ages 2 to 5 will delight in the show’s whimsical blend of dance, storytelling, and puppetry. Screen projections and opportunities for audience participation will make this show a favorite long before the curtain falls. Runs weekends through Sunday, November 20. Tickets start at $20.

“Pip’s Island”

Starting this Saturday ages 4 through 10 can journey to “Pip’s Island” at Skylight Modern! This one-hour highly immersive and interactive experience allows visitors to travel through 12 multi-sensory environments with the show’s actors and puppets. Kids can earn Spark badges by solving puzzles and games specially created by “Pip’s Island” writers, designers and childhood development experts. The production is designed to promote social, emotional and cognitive development, a sense of social duty, neuro-diversity, and interactive play. Previews begin on Wednesday, November 9. Runs through Sunday, January 8, 2017. Tickets are $50.

“Cardboard Explosion”

Puppeteer Brad Shur will transform Symphony Space into a cardboard city during “Cardboard Explosion.” Five original stories will be told using nothing but cardboard and the audience’s imagination! All ages can defeat dragons, train animal sidekicks, and more during this hour-long show. Tickets are $17.
10th Annual Brooklyn Children’s Book Fair
The Brooklyn Museum

Meet your favorite local authors and illustrators at the tenth annual Brooklyn Children’s Book Fair at the Brooklyn Museum. The fair will feature a variety of storybooks, picture books, graphic novels, and books for young adults. More than 30 Brooklyn authors and illustrators will read their books in the museum’s Rubin Pavilion. In addition to meet-and-greet sessions, there will also be hands-on arts and crafts and fun photo opportunities for kids. This event is free.
