In just enough time to watch a few “Daniel Tiger” episodes on an airplane I was transported to an island paradise called Bermuda. As soon as I saw the plane landing over the crystal clear waters, I couldn’t wait to sink my tiny toes into the famous, pink sand and enjoy a Bermuda-ful day.
We discovered Bermuda bliss at the posh Rosewood Tucker’s Point. Upon arrival I got the red carpet treatment that an Island Princess deserves. I was escorted out of the car and warmly greeted by name by Mr. Lavon and we became fast friends. I’m fairly certain I was his favorite guest during my stay. We are both fashionistas. He wore his traditional blazer, Bermuda shorts, knee high socks and pink hat. And I wore my swim suit with matching cover up and fancy sun hat. He showed me the ropes and got me hooked up with the Rose Buds for children camp, a kiddie backpack, and the Tiny the Tree Frog package. The sound of the tree frogs at night music became music to my little ears after this experience: My baby sister and I each got a Tiny stuffie (complete in his tiny t-shirt), a book of his Bermuda adventures, activity books, and a pass to the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo.
Then we were escorted to our lavish Manor House Poolside Suite where there was even a Tiny cupcake waiting for me. I was ribbit-ing with joy! The spectacular suite had a room for me, baby, and Mommy and Daddy with the added bonus of my own pool (or so I liked to call it). A set of glass doors opened right to our own private alcove complete with canopied daybed and access to the Castle Harbour Pool. I could swim whenever I felt like being a little fish and my baby sister could nap without infringing on my pool and sun time. It was perfect!
The chic resort was huge and I got to explore it all: Fine dining restaurants with ocean or harbor views, four pools outfitted for endless fun, a kids’ club with endless activities, a water sports center, tennis courts, a croquet lawn, a spa, golf, tree frogs playing hide and go seek, and Bermuda’s largest private beach. Mommy and Daddy loved the sophisticated elegance (whatever that means) but I loved how everyone knew me by name and there was fun around every corner.
We explored the luxurious property in our family golf cart. I tried to drive it like a race car but I couldn’t reach the pedal. While I love golf and being a land rover, my most favorite adventures were in the water. From kayaking to snorkeling and from fountain hopping in the kiddie pool to dancing in the ocean waves, I was a little fish. My favorite “pond” was the private beach club where Mommy and I loved the serene stretch of pink sand beach. We collected pink sea shells, wrote our name in the sand and built a pink sandcastle. We were pampered pretty in pink! Mommy’s favorite part was that it seemed like they added blue drops in the water to make it perfectly Bermuda blue. And my favorite part was beachside butler service. I quickly learned to wave my flag to get a virgin Miami Vice with two cherries. But baby’s favorite was the pink sand. She crawled on the soft sand right into the ocean with no fear even when a wave crashed over her.
After a day full of water adventure, I worked up an appetite! When I wasn’t dining poolside or at the beach, our family favorite restaurant was the beach club restaurant Sur Mer. We ate right on the beach and watched the ocean and sunset while enjoying fresh local catch. Yum! At The Point I enjoyed eating mac and cheese alfresco (that’s fancy for outside) and there were lots of little friends like me. And Daddy loved Sul Verde for its great Italian buffet and golf course setting.
Our Bermuda exploration was centered around the adventures from Tiny’s book. Some highlights not to miss included a visit to the Town of St. George to see the Deliverance and St. Peter’s, the oldest church in western hemisphere; the city of Hamilton especially Harbor Nights with local artisans and Gombey dancers; and the Royal Dockyard to experience local fare from glassworks to rum cakes. In true tree frog spirit, we finished the morning with lunch at the Frog and Onion Pub.
Our most special and memorable adventure was to Dolphin Quest. We indulged in the premier package and had a private swimming and play session with two dolphins. Our personal trainer walked us through each and every step and helped me along the way. Dolphin Marley was my favorite. From our initial meeting at the water’s edge platform, it was love at first sight. We greeted each other cautiously at first with a gentle pat and then I won her over when I got to feed her a fish. Soon after, we waved hello and held hands and by the end we shared a twirly dance, high fives and a kiss. I kissed a dolphin and I liked it! It was life-changing. I couldn’t stop talking about it and had to bring a little dolphin bath doll home so I can swim with a dolphin every night.
Bermuda simply took my breath away. And that is a hard thing to do. I loved Bermuda and I can’t wait to visit Rosewood Tucker’s Point and see my favorite neighbors again soon. Until then, I am still dreaming of Bermuda-ful pink sand and turquoise waters and the most Bermuda-ful days!
