When cell phones, iPads, and video game consoles are the top three favorite sources of entertainment for your kids this summer, it can be difficult to get them to go outside and stay active. The free CityPark Golf Program in Eugene McCabe Park is the perfect way to make sure your kids and teens get the most out of summer.
Children ages 6-16 can enjoy free golf lessons from July 29 to August 23. Whether they have a passion for golf or are just beginning, CityPark Golf allows NYC kids of all skill levels to up their game by playing the 6-hole course or practicing their putting. And golf isn’t just a grown-up sport; for kids, it helps develop self-esteem, discipline, and sportsmanship. If your child gets really into it, he or she can try out for more specialized programs for serious young golfers (CityParks Intermediate Program and Junior Golf Academy). Equipment will be given at no extra charge.
Registration at Alley Pond, Mario Fajardo, Pelham Bay and Silver Lake parks are closed, but all other parks are accepting walk-on sign ups. Hurry before it’s too late! cityparksfoundation.org
