2017 Sing for Hope Pianos

Spread throughout many of NYC’s parks and public spaces, the Sing For Hope pianos give your little music-lover a chance to play to their heart’s content. Decorated by local NYC artists, the pianos bring awareness to the preservation of the arts and expose youth to the vibrancy of music. Stop by any piano around you to experience a good time with the kids!

Harlem Arts Festival

Come to the annual Harlem Arts Festival, which showcases visual and performing artists! The fest features discussion panels, forums, classes, a kid’s corner, local businesses, food vendors and more. The festival’s producers will also award one or two individuals with the Lynette Velasco Community Impact Award. The festival is free and open to the public.

Swedish Midsummer Dance Festival

This Friday evening, join the Battery Park City Parks Conservancy and the Consulate General of Sweden in New York for the Swedish Midsummer Festival in Robert F. Wagner Park. Families with children of all ages can decorate and dance around the midsummer pole, picnic, make flower wreaths, enjoy fiddle music, play games, and try out some Swedish food from top NYC restaurants. This event will take place rain or shine.

Your child can experience the Hudson River in a new way this Saturday with Summer on the Hudson and the Urban Park Rangers’ RiverFish Celebration. Come prepared to do everything from catch and release fishing to arts and crafts. Everything you need to have a great day will be provided!

This Saturday, join the Madison Square Park Conservancy for Hydrangea Hurrah, a celebration of the park’s prized hydrangeas! The afternoon will feature watercolor painting demos, hydrangea tea, flower arranging workshops, hat and boutonniere making, horticulture talks, and more. There will also be live jazz music from the Glenn Crytzer Orchestra and a merry-go-round for kids. This event will take place rain or shine.

NYSoM SuperHERO Carnival

Don your favorite superhero costume this Saturday for the NYSoM SuperHERO Carnival in Brooklyn’s Raymond Bush Park! The day’s festivities will include superhero games, activities, and prizes, cooking demos, face painting and temporary tattoos, a photo booth, carnival snacks, arts and crafts, and much more. Plus don’t miss special guest appearances by Marvel and DC villains and heroes!

Backlot Art Festival 2017

Come to the first ever Backlot Art Festival featuring almost 30 different art activities! There will be a live performance of wearable art and sculpture, a pop-up gallery at the Queens Council on the Arts, book crafting, live music, pottery workshops, a parade and much more. All events are free and take place in the Kaufman Arts District.
