Disney announced a live production of its hit musical film Frozen will hit Broadway in spring 2018.
Have you gotten “Let It Go” out of your head yet? Well get ready, because Elsa is back. She and all her Frozen friends are slated to make their Broadway debut in spring 2018. Disney Theatrical Productions announced on Twitter that it is bringing the wildly popular Academy Award-winning musical film, which won the 2014 Oscars for Best Song and Best Animated Feature, to the live stage.
With music and lyrics my Kristen-Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, creators of the film’s score, and under the direction of Alex Timbers, a Golden Globe and Obie winner and two-time Tony Award nominee, Frozen promises to be a smash on Broadway, like Disney Theatrical Productions’ other hit musicals, Aladdin and The Lion King.
Joining the creative team is Peter Darling, a Tony winner, as choreographer, and Stephen Oremus, a two-time Tony Award winner, will supervise the vocal and incidental arrangements. The design team includes Natasha Katz, a five-time Tony winner, on lighting, Bob Crowley, seven-time Tony winner, on costume, and Peter Hylenski, four-time Tony nominee, on sound.
Beginning in August 2017, Frozen will play an out-of-town tryout run at the Buell Theater at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. For information regarding this special pre-Broadway engagement visit DenverCenter.org.
