Gateway Sports Club, a sports learning company with programs in Queens, Brooklyn, and Nassau County, opened a new program in Bedford at James Madison High School in June. The high school features a large, heated pool where students of all ages can learn how to swim. The company’s mission is to motivate and encourage students through learning about sports. The Bayside location at P.S. 224 also extended its weekend hours and is now open from 10am-6pm.
Gateway Sports Club offers swimming classes, ranging from baby to adult swimmers. The program consists of eight difficulty levels and each instructor—all trained by Gateway Sports Club—takes his or her time when teaching new swimmers. All of the pools program-wide are heated, making for a comfortable learning atmosphere. The pool at P.S. 224 is the warmest and smallest pool that Gateway uses for its swim programs.
The Gateway swim instruction program is so rigorous, the company formed junior and senior competitive swim teams at the Flushing Meadows Aquatic Center and Jamaica High School. Students from Gateway Sports have also participated in metropolitan-area Junior Olympics.
