Groundhog Day…Rated R?

Behaving very much like a mischievous sprite, my soon-to-be
eight-year-old son asked me and my wife if we’d like him to “take out Punxsutawney
Phil and see if he chases his shadow.” This was Sunday morning. We
didn’t quite get it at first but then he clarified by pointing to his privates. —

I must admit: our first reaction was big laughter, and of
course that was a big mistake because (yes) it encouraged him. (And I’ll leave
it at that.) Apparently the real Punxsutawney Phil has us looking forward to
six more weeks of winter this year.

My Adam, however, strikes me as being ready for spring.
