Harry Potter Release Parties In NYC

Die-hard Harry Potter fans, listen up!  The newest installment in the Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, is coming out at midnight on Saturday July 30. The two-act play will premiere in London’s West End on 7/30, but for all of us stateside Potter fans, reading the script will have to do! But before you embark on another adventure with author JK Rowling to Hogwarts and beyond, we’ve got you covered with some of the many book release parties around New York City.  So grab your wands, memorize those spells and get ready, because Harry Potter is back!

Barnes and Noble

Barnes & Noble bookstores across the city will be hosting their own own midnight release parties with festivities including giveaways and a “Muggle Wall” where guests can share their favorite Harry Potter memories.  After picking up your books at midnight and rushing home to read the novel, all Potter fans can return to stores on July 31 to discuss Cursed Child and enjoy more HP-themed events!

Head over to Book Culture on Manhattan’s Upper West Side to grab your copy of Cursed Child in style.  In addition to wizarding snacks and beverages, participate in Book Culture’s own sorting ceremony. All ages are invited to celebrate the release of Harry Potter Book 8 at the Community Bookstore in Brooklyn!  Feast on a bunch of HP-themed treats like Cauldron cakes and Butterbeer while participating in trivia games and other wizardly activities, like getting sorted! Be there at 10 pm to get a good spot in line and make sure to pre-order a copy of the book.

Word Bookstore in Brooklyn is hosting  fun-filled evening of Potter for witches and wizards of all ages!  A $30 admission ticket to this release party, held at Villain in Williamsburg, gets you a copy of JK the book (to be handed out at exactly midnight), a slice of Harry Potter’s birthday cake, and several themed treats catered by Honeydukes chocolate and drinks from Rosmerta’s pub (both youth and adult beverages).  You can even celebrate with a Harry Potter themed temporary tattoo!

Harry Potter Day With The Brooklyn Cyclones

While this isn’t technically a book release party, if the kids haven’t had their fill of Potter the night of the 30th, bring them to MCU Park on Sunday, July 31 for a variety of Harry Potter-themed activities at the Brooklyn Cyclones’ ball game! Take photos with your favorite witches and wizards, receive spells instruction, and join a costumed fan parade around the field–and catch the pre-game Quidditch beginning at 2:45pm.  Then, watch the Cyclones take on the Aberdeen Ironbirds at 4!

<p><a name="m_-1473885667065203258__Hlk72147528"></a>Adventuring Portal runs Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) games for kids.   We have created a safe online space for tweens and teens to learn and play D&D.</p> <p>Our D&D Summer Camp session are a one-week experience.  Monday – Friday.  Each day will be 3 hours of gaming (with 2 breaks build in).  15 total gaming hours for $180.  If you have played with us before, you are entitled to 10% off.   </p> <p>Need your kids, nieces or nephews, grand kids or neighbor’s kids to be occupied for a bit so you can get work done & take care of your to-do list? Maybe your tween or teen is still a bit isolated and craves connection with their peers? Whether your teen/tween has played D&D before or is brand-new to the experience, this safe space brings players together to have fun and solve problems as a team in ways few other online opportunities do.</p> <p>All our games focus on experiential learning.   Our players leave knowing all the basic game play as well as experiencing: teamwork, bravery, compassion, generosity, negotiation, improvisation, gamer etiquette, strategy, critical thinking, problem solving, cartography and probability - all through online D&D adventuring!</p> <p>We are an inclusive organization and welcome gamers who are LGBTQIA+ and those on any spectrum. </p> <p>All girls’ groups available. </p> <p>I am a parent, a certified elementary school and middle school math teacher and last summer in the midst of the mess started Adventuring Portal, an online Dungeons & Dragons business for kids.
