Norman & Jules, a local store established in 2012 by Courtney Ebner and Avi Kravitz, has been bringing imaginative toys and creative decor to families and children. Now, Norman & Jules have an exciting new project that will bring some extra magic to the entire neighborhood: They are fundraising to create a new event space in their own neighborhood of Park Slope in Brooklyn.
Having lived in Park Slope for years and it being the home to their very own store, Ebner and Kravitz have decided to use their 800-square-ft backyard to create a family-friendly space that will honor their community. The space would be used for a variety of events including concerts, readings, sing-alongs, birthdays and many others that will help serve the entire neighborhood.
Focusing on both family-friendliness and protecting the environment, the space would be made out natural materials. Working with Future Green Studio, the event space will be both creative and environment-friendly.
Ebner and Kravitz have tried to keep the message of family and community in their store. Other than creating handcrafted toys and decor to help encourage children to explore and learn, Norman & Jules has focused a lot of effort to giving back to its beloved neighborhood. In honor of their daughter and NICU friends, a percentage of sales from Norman & Jules is donated to the March of Dimes. Also, Norman & Jules helped establish Kid Collector, a gallery of local and independent artists in an attempt to share the importance of art with the entire community.
The event space will be a brand new project for Norman & Jules and a large contribution to the neighborhood of Park Slope. Currently, Ebner and Kravitz are in the fundraising stage of the project and are relying on the community. They have started an IndieGoGo campaign to help them reach their $80,000 goal. The project seems to be extremely worth while and we wish them the best!
