Innovative New Puppet Show Supported by Jim Henson Foundation Premieres in NYC

In 2017 Doppelskope brought its puppet musical about climate change (GRUFF!) to NYC. This month, with the support of a Family Grant from the Jim Henson Foundation, they’re premiering their newest and most innovative puppet show at The Tank in Midtown West.

The Amazing Story Machine is about the family Grimm, who are on the verge of presenting their amazing new Story Machine, which runs on steam and dreams and promises to revolutionize how stories are told and how people connect.

When their fabulous contraption malfunctions, the Grimms have to invent a new way of storytelling on the spot, using puppets and help from the audience. The show features multiple styles of puppetry, including tabletop puppetry, object theatre, and shadow puppetry, as well as live music, projections, and physical comedy. Over the course of the show, the Grimms tell some of their favorite fairy tales, including The Hare and the Hedgehog, Hansel and Gretel, and The Brave Little Tailor.

The Amazing Story Machine performs every Saturday and Sunday in October. For more information, visit the Doppelskope website or contact doppelskope@gmail.com.
