Kalahari Resorts and Conventions has expanded its amenities and more than doubled its rooms at its African-themed family resort in the Pocono Mountains area of Pennsylvania, according to a press release.
Since its expansion, the water park in the Kalahari Resort in the Poconos is now the largest indoor water park in America—a 220,000-square-foot attraction, according to a press release. The expansion added eight new slides, a wavepool, an enhanced area for children, an extended lazy river, and more adult swim-up bars.
An additional 520 rooms and suites have been added to the Kalahari Resort in the Poconos, bringing the total to nearly 1,000 on-site accommodations. There are also two new full-service signature dining experiences, expanded dry-play, and fitness amenities.
“My family and I had always dreamed of expanding Kalahari to the East Coast, and we’ve had a great experience in the Pocono Mountains,” said Todd Nelson, owner of Kalahari Resorts and Conventions, in a press release. “We could not be prouder to bring the distinction of America’s Largest Indoor Waterpark to this tremendous area.”
Two new styles of accommodations were also added to the Poconos resort. The three-bedroom family suites include one king bedroom with a master bath, two separate bedrooms with two queen beds each, a full-sized sofa sleeper, and a fireplace. The big five suites include one king bedroom with a master bath, four separate bedrooms with two queen beds each, a full-sized sofa sleeper, a fireplace, and a large balcony with furniture.
The new dining experiences at the resort include the Double Cut Charcoal Grill, Kalahari’s signature steakhouse; Sortino’s Italian Kitchen, a new-age, red-sauced restaurant; and the Marrakesh Market, for grab-and-go convenient, bazaar-style shopping.
