Key to My Art, an art enrichment center for all ages in Amityville, recently added fashion illustration and art history classes for children, plus paint-and-sip classes for adults. The hour-long children’s classes run in two-month sessions and have rolling enrollment. Fashion illustration is for children ages 8-13, while art history caters to ages 6-9. The paint-and-sip classes for adults will be held twice per month.
In addition to the new classes, Key to My Art offers workshops and art camp for children ages 3-18. There are also Kids Paint events each month, held either on the weekends or days off from school. Key to My Art can also host birthday parties at its venue or yours. Birthday parties include one instructor and one assistant for 12 children, pizza and drinks, and 90 minutes of painting fun. Your child can choose a Minimalist or Expressionist theme for their painting activity.
Owner Riesa Fischer is a New York state-certified art teacher who has experience working with special needs. She opened the art studio in 2015 and provides students with the materials and instruction intended to give them the “key to your art.” She strives to create a positive and encouraging environment for children and parents alike to express their creativity.
“I believe that everyone can create, and nobody should feel that they aren’t good enough,” Fischer says. “Art is a fun, relaxing way to express yourself. I want all our art-makers to know—whether it be at a class or birthday party—that we are 100 percent committed to making you feel comfortable, and creative!”
