The Connecticut Westchester Hudson Valley Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) is seeking high school students passionate about volunteering, philanthropy, and leadership for a fundraising competition called Students of the Year, according to a press release.
LLS’s Students of the Year is an opportunity for high school students to raise money for research in advanced lifesaving treatments and cures for blood cancer patients. The candidates/ teams who raise the most money at the end of the seven-week competition will win the title Student(s) of the Year along with a $2,500 scholarship.
The program is for motivated high school students and will help them stand out amongst peers to colleges and future employers.
“We are excited to launch 2019’s Students of the Year campaign and to meet all of our participating candidates,” said Deborah Barker, executive director of LLS’s Connecticut Westchester Hudson Valley Chapter. “Every student who participates has the power to save lives and help LLS make someday, today, for blood cancer patients.”
Participants in this year’s fundraiser will help LLS generate funds for its mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and improve quality of life of patients and their families, according to a press release. The 2019 campaign will begin on February 7 2019 and will commence on March 28. The Grand Finale Gala will include a reception, silent auction, and awards presentation.
The application deadline is October 25 and students can apply at studentseries.org. For questions, to nominate a candidate, or to volunteer, contact Michele Lippin, campaign manager of Students of the Year.
