Little Scholars, a chain of early childhood education centers in Brooklyn, will open a new location in Bensonhurst this month. This will be the fifth location to open in the borough and will be housed in a new 6,000-square-foot facility that will include a private playground and modern NYC Department of Education-approved supplies and furniture. Children ages 2 to 4 can attend. After-school programs will be available for children in grades K through 5. An extended hours feature – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. – was implemented to help make childcare easier for working parents.
The curriculum will be the same as the ones at the other Little Scholars facilities, and will be designed to stimulate social, cognitive, physical and other areas of development. Daily activities include art, music, dance and yoga.
Nick Kats, executive director, opened the first Little Scholars facility in Brooklyn five years ago with his partner Mariana Korsunsky, who has a Master’s in early childhood education and special education.
“We opened the new location here because there is a great need. We’ve been looking at this spot for a long time,” said Kats. “What we love about being in Brooklyn is that it is so diverse, like the rest of the city. What we are doing is offering high-quality education for children here. We do that at all out locations, and this one is no exception.”
In addition to childcare services, Little Scholars offers enrichment classes such as dance and Russian foreign language at its locations.
