Luna Park in Coney Island Celebrates the 2025 Season with Opening Weekend Events

Most native New Yorkers will agree that a summer in New York isn’t complete without at least one trip to Coney Island. Luckily, the fun at Luna Park doesn’t have to wait until temperatures rise. The iconic amusement park kicks off its 2025 season with a three-day celebration from March 29-31.

One of the highlights of the Opening Weekend is the traditional Egg Cream Christening of the Coney Island Cyclone. The famous landmark is celebrating its 98th anniversary in 2025. On Saturday, March 29, at noon, the first 98 riders of the Cyclone will be treated to a free ride and classic Coney Island egg cream as part of the park’s tribute to the historic coaster.

Have Fun and Give Back

You can purchase the All Day Extraordinary Wristband during this time, which gives you access to the rides and attractions at a discounted price, making it a more affordable way for families to have fun at the park. The wristband offers four hours of unlimited access to Luna Park’s rides. It is available in two options: one for guests 48 inches and above, and another for those under 48 inches. Keep in mind you have to arrive at least three hours before the park’s scheduled closing time to enjoy the wristband benefits.

If you get a wristband, you can feel confident knowing that your purchase is supporting a great cause and giving back to the local community. A portion of the proceeds from wristband sales over the weekend will go to local charities like the Coney Island Sharks, Operation H.O.O.D., Children of Promise NYC, Urban Neighborhood Services, and the Coney Island Public Library.

Preserving Coney Island’s history is important for maintaining its unique character and supporting the local community. Luna Park’s annual charity efforts help foster connections with the neighborhood by supporting organizations that assist children and families in need. This allows the park to remain connected to its history while contributing to the area’s well-being.

More Fun Ahead at Luna Park This Year

The 2025 season also brings new upgrades to Luna Park, including updated arcade games, revamped retail spaces, and a refreshed patio at Salt & Sizzle. The park will be open daily during Spring Break from April 11-20, and on weekends until Memorial Day, with extended hours.

Once Memorial Day is over and summer unofficially begins, Luna Park will open every day, including the park’s 50+ attractions, games, and dining options all summer long.

Until summer rolls around, spring is a great time to visit Coney Island, as the weather begins to warm up and the crowds haven’t yet reached their peak. It’s a more relaxed time to enjoy the park’s classic rides, grab a snack, or take a stroll along the boardwalk. With the season slowly changing, it’s a nice way to experience Coney Island before the summer rush.

Plus, no matter spring, summer, winter, or fall, Coney Island’s fresh air and sea breeze make it a refreshing escape from the city. I mean, can’t you smell the ocean now just thinking about it? Not to mention Nathan’s hot dogs!

Admission to Luna Park is free with rides starting at $4. For more information about park hours, tickets, and upcoming events, visit LunaParkNYC.com.
