Mathnasium, a math-tutoring center for Long Island children will open a new location on the South Shore of Long Island, serving children in Merrick, Bellmore, and Massapequa. Mathnasium offers tutoring services for children in kindergarten through 12th grade.
The math-learning center Mathnasium plans to open in Wantagh mid-January, serving several communities on Long Island’s South Shore, including Merrick, Bellmore, and Massapequa.
Mathnasium students take a pre-assessment, which determines how well they are doing in math for their age, and Mathnasium’s trained instructors create a specialized curriculum for them. The students then work with instructors in a small group setting. “Everything is done in the center,” says Rupi Parmar, the center director of the Syosset-Jericho center. “Work is corrected immediately, and problems are fixed right away.”
The program is for children in kindergarten through 12th grade. Students enroll in a monthly membership and go in twice a week, and if they are behind in math, instructors help them catch up. “We are more than just a place to go do math,” Parmar says. “We try to create a fun place.”
Rupi’s co-director and husband Tony Parmar adds, “We are equipped to handle a wide range of students,” noting that the center has attracted graduate students studying for the GMATs.
The new Bellmore-Massapequa center will be waiving the normal assessment fee for a limited time.
