Award-winning children’s musician and Preschool of Rock founder Michael Napolitano and his band Michael & The Rockness Monsters have released a new music video from their self-titled debut album–and we’re lucky enough to premiere it here at New York Family!
Through colorful, adorable animations, the “Fisherman” music video follows a fisherman and his boat, Percy, on the quest for a catch. His happy-go-lucky satisfaction even when he comes up empty-handed provides a worthwhile lesson for kids.
“This past summer, I spent a good amount of time bonding with my girls. Their uncle has a boat and we’ve had some lovely days in the bay learning to fish. Rarely do we catch anything,” Napolitano explains. “Hence the moral of the story– keep a positive outlook. You don’t always need immediate satisfaction. ‘Sometimes I don’t catch a thing, but I never give up, I just sing!'”
Napolitano’s creative intention with the video was to make “a playful video that would entertain all ages but still give the tiny Preschool of Rock fans (who are now also listening to Michael & the Rockness Monsters) a selection of different fish to view and learn about,” he says. “I think we found a cute video that captures all ages and teaches a cute lesson about adventuring to try new activities without hopes of any ‘gain’ just doing activity for fun.”
