In normal circumstances, $2 won’t buy you a whole lot. This summer, however, it can buy your kiddo a session at Michael’s Passport to Imagination program. This 7-week long adventure (one week for each continent) will teach children about different countries across the world, then let them create crafts inspired by their culture. Every in-store class incorporates two fun, engaging, and educational craft projects, like constructing a Peruvian yarn art vase, decorating Russian dancing dolls, or painting a Japanese cherry blossom portrait. Michael’s will also provide easy “At-Home” projects for parents to enjoy with their kids. The first 50 attendees at each store will receive a free brag book, which is a mini portfolio of your child’s work (or you can buy one for $2)!
The program is in conjunction with seven museums across North America, including the Fashion Institute of Technology, where youngsters will also be able to create exhibition-inspired arts projects. For example, FIT’s sessions feature the themes of texture, color, and fashion design, so children will be able to make their own inspiration boards and fashion dolls or color and pattern wheels.
