It’s no secret that being a mother means being a superhero. Research now shows that being a mom is actually more than just a full time job: it’s two and a half times the work, according to nypost.com.
2,000 American mothers with children aged five to 12 were surveyed and studied by Welch’s juice company to analyze their weekly schedule. The study revealed that the average daily start time for a mom is 6:43am and average end time was around 8:31pm. Between the daily tasks of motherhood and any career-related tasks, each day for a mom lasts about 14-hours. Most full time jobs don’t even come close to this long.
That makes the total workweek of a mother 98 hours of work – with only one hour and seven minutes to herself each day.
“The results of the survey highlight just how demanding the role of a mom can be and the non-stop barrage of tasks it consists of,” Casey Lewis, health and nutrition lead at Welch’s told Yahoo.
When asked what they couldn’t live without as a mom, answers included coffee, naps, wine, babysitters, Netflix, and drive-through meals.
“Busy moms may identify with this list of ‘lifesavers,’ which highlights not just a rigorous workload but a constant requirement to feed and fuel the family, week in and week out,” Lewis told Yahoo.
Being the mother of the household means ensuring that a non-stop routine is present, feeding the family, and ironing out any and all issues. Four in ten moms said that their lives feel like a never-ending series of tasks 24/7, 7 days a week, according to Yahoo News.
Welch’s used this research based on real experiences and everyday difficulties moms faced as part of their mission to provide feasible nutrition solutions for American families.
