You never know what you’re going to see on the streets of New York these days, but one thing is for sure, if you see a baby with a mustache (well, a mustache pacifier), you’re not losing your mind! A young couple, Jason Feinberg and Alyssa Zeller Feinberg, got the idea from a friend and after a year, they decided to run with it.
“I know a good idea when I hear one,” Jason Feinberg said.
The couple are the minds behind the company FCTRY and the mustache pacifiers, Mustachifiers. Putting a mustache on a baby is pure genius, but the process was not as easy as it sounds.
With Alyssa’s background in design, she drew up the design and then worked with a 3D sculpture to get it just right. Factories and engineers were hard to come by because of the medical parts that go into creating a safe pacifier for babies, the couple said.
Jason and Alyssa were expecting their first child at the same time that they were creating their mustache pacifiers (which happened to be a coincidence). Being pregnant limited what Alyssa could do, but she still ventured to a factory in China to investigate the manufacturing of the Mustachifier.
“It was exciting to be multitasking in creation. Walking through machinery and assembly lines while simultaneously building a human,” Alyssa Zeller Feinberg said.
Today, the Brooklyn-based couple’s child, Jackson, is 18 months old. As Jackson grows, the products of FCTRY will be altered to fit his age range.
“The ideas at this point are growing out of what we need or what we want to have for ourselves as parents, so it’s logical to assume that we’ll keep making toys for our kid,” Jason Feinberg said.
Recently, the duo has created optical glasses for babies in an array of colors, along with bibs that look like bandanas–keeping it cool and trendy for the babies of this generation!
