Name That Dino!

Shall we
call her Sally or Pam? How about Mamy or just Mam? The American Museum of
Natural History
invites kids of all ages to submit suggestions for a chance to name
its newest resident, the Mamenchisaurus hochuanensis—one of the world’s
largest dinosaurs. —

An
18-year-old vegetarian with a 30-foot-long neck, Mamenchisaurus is one of the
biggest creatures to have ever roamed the earth! She recently arrived at the American Museum of Natural History as part of The World’s Largest Dinosaurs exhibition.

Like most
teens, Mamenchisaurus loves to update her Twitter daily @Giant_Dino—that is, when she’s
not chowing down on thousands of pounds of food. At 13 tons, she needs to eat over
1,000 pounds of food each day to survive. So think of a good nickname (just
don’t call her chubby!), and submit your dino-mite idea to the Museum.

Submissions
are being accepted through Wednesday, May 25. Three finalists will win a giant (of
course) dinosaur prize package including
copies of Inside Dinosaurs and ABC Dinosaurs, four tickets
to the exhibition,
and a Mamenchisaurus Woodcraft Construction Kit, and one winner will receive an iPod touch. The winning
name of Mamenchisaurus will be announced on June 7.

To learn
more about Mamenchisaurus, check her out on YouTube
or read about her in the Museum’s Dinosaurs
app
. For the total experience, visit The World’s Largest Dinosaurs exhibit
at the Museum.

Belle da Costa Greene: A Librarian's Legacy

The Morgan Library & Museum will present a major exhibition devoted to the life and career of its inaugural director, Belle da Costa Greene (1879–1950). Widely recognized as an authority on illuminated manuscripts and deeply respected as a cultural heritage executive, Greene was one of the most prominent librarians in American history. The exhibition will trace Greene’s storied life, from her roots in a predominantly Black community in Washington, D.C., to her distinguished career at the helm of one of the world’s great research libraries. Through extraordinary objects―from medieval manuscripts and rare printed books to archival records and portraits―the exhibition will demonstrate the confidence and savvy Greene brought to her roles as librarian, scholar, curator, and cultural executive, and honor her enduring legacy.
