Nothing says summer like taking in family-favorite films under the night sky.
Pack a picnic, bring some chairs, and wrap a blanket around the family–NYC Parks and the Mayors Office of Media and Entertainment outdoor movie screening series just began for the 2016 summer season. “Movies Under the Stars” features everything from classic films, such as Casablanca and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, to current blockbusters, such as Minions and Divergent.
Hightlights include:
Star Trek: First Contact on May 12 in Brooklyn’s JJ Carty Park
Jurrasic World on May 13 in Hansborough Park in Manhatta, in Willowbrook Park in Staten Island, and May 17 at St. Mary’s Recreation Center in the Bronx.
Happy Feet on May 27 at Soundview Playground in the Bonx.
Moonstruck on May 20 on Dyker Beach in Brooklyn, and May 25 at Vincent Albano Park in Manhattan
Raiders of the Lost Ark on May 21 at the Al Oerter Park and Recreation Center in Queens
Goonies on May 27 at Bloomindale Park in Staten Island
Rocky on June 16 at John Jay Park in Manhattan

Screenings are scheduled throughout the week and weekends, and are held across all five boroughs in a variety of neighborhoods, local parks, piers, and green spaces. Check the full schedule for specific films, dates, and locations. All screenings are open to the public, and begin at sundown.
