After Hurricane Sandy hit, Pacplex had to close to fix the damage it sustained during the severe weather. Pacplex is reopening with some new additions to the facility. The family fitness center also offers summer camp and after-school programs.
The indoor soccer field at Pacplex
After major reconstruction and remodeling, Pacplex, the largest sports, recreation and education complex in Brooklyn, will reopen its facility on March 23. The grand reopening celebration is scheduled for April 16.
Some changes to the complex include renovated pools, a rebuilt restaurant, a new private dining room, and a reequipped power gym, cardio, and health club. New additions to the facility include three basketball courts, salon services featuring hairstyling and massage therapy, and boxing as a part of the fitness program regimen. The complex also offers an indoor soccer field, a feature unique to Pacplex.
Pacplex also offers summer camp and after-school programs for children ages 3 to 14. Camp activities include arts and crafts, dance, music, sports, gymnastics, swim, group games, and drama—newly added this year. Campers have daily access to Pacplex’s four outdoor pools, instructional swim, and a climbing wall. There are day trips for different age groups to places such as a minor league baseball game, farms, museums, and zoos. The summer camp open house dates are April 6 and 20.
The after-school program for ages 5 to 13 runs for two hours and offers homework help and a variety of activities ranging from sports to art, music, and drama. The facility also allows for children to read in a quiet environment or play board games with other students.
