It’s finally the summer! Enjoy the warmer weather this weekend at fun outdoor events like a special Mad. Sq. Kids concert, Central Park’s Fishing and Water celebration, a family day at Roger Morris Park, and Prospect Park’s special Flax Harvest! Explore the museum’s  current “City as Canvas: Graffiti Art from the Martin Wong Collection” exhibit with your family! After examining photographs, sketchbooks, and canvasses demonstrating the unique street art of NYC during the 70s and 80s, visitors can create magnets featuring their own graffiti style during this special event. Free with museum admission

Fishing and Water Celebration
Central Park: Charles A. Dana Discovery Center

Little marine biologists get the chance to embark on some aquatic adventures at Central Park’s Family Fishing and Water Celebration! Ooh and aah over microscopic organisms living in the Harlem Meer, try your hand at fishing, or go on a guided water walk. Other highlights include environment-themed live jams from Billy B. and the tale of New York City’s water supply from Arm of the Sea Theater and their puppets! Free

Get out in the sunshine at Roger Morris Park’s Family Day! Kids can play colonial games, make historical crafts, and take free docent-led tours of the museum to celebrate the beginning of summer. Don’t miss a special musical guest, award-winning flutist and composer Yael Acher, at 2pm! Free

Macy’s Sunday Story Time: Revolutionary Tales

Gearing up for the Fourth of July? This storytime will get little ones in the mood for our nation’s independence day! Youngsters will listen to John, Paul, George & Ben by Lane Smith, then answer which silly tales about our founding fathers were true or not. After that, a stirring true story, Henry and the Cannons by Don Brown, illustrates how a bookseller helped chase the British Army out of Boston during the Revolutionary War. Free with museum admission

Flax Harvest
Prospect Park
1pm-4pm
All Ages
At this fun educational session, children will  get the chance to see the park’s flax crop, help weed, plant, and water it, and then try out the tools used to transform flax fibers into linen cloth. After comparing different weaves and patterns of various textiles, the kiddos can play dress-up in linen clothes for a fun photo shoot on a farm wagon! Suggested $3 donation

<p><a name="m_-1473885667065203258__Hlk72147528"></a>Adventuring Portal runs Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) games for kids.   We have created a safe online space for tweens and teens to learn and play D&D.</p> <p>Our D&D Summer Camp session are a one-week experience.  Monday – Friday.  Each day will be 3 hours of gaming (with 2 breaks build in).  15 total gaming hours for $180.  If you have played with us before, you are entitled to 10% off.   </p> <p>Need your kids, nieces or nephews, grand kids or neighbor’s kids to be occupied for a bit so you can get work done & take care of your to-do list? Maybe your tween or teen is still a bit isolated and craves connection with their peers? Whether your teen/tween has played D&D before or is brand-new to the experience, this safe space brings players together to have fun and solve problems as a team in ways few other online opportunities do.</p> <p>All our games focus on experiential learning.   Our players leave knowing all the basic game play as well as experiencing: teamwork, bravery, compassion, generosity, negotiation, improvisation, gamer etiquette, strategy, critical thinking, problem solving, cartography and probability - all through online D&D adventuring!</p> <p>We are an inclusive organization and welcome gamers who are LGBTQIA+ and those on any spectrum. </p> <p>All girls’ groups available. </p> <p>I am a parent, a certified elementary school and middle school math teacher and last summer in the midst of the mess started Adventuring Portal, an online Dungeons & Dragons business for kids. There are so many benefits to playing D&D and I hope you will consider us as a great way for your child to safely socialize, grow as people and have a great time.</p>
