As September comes to a close, fall fests and family days are still abundant. So, without further ado, we bring you our favorite family events of the week.

All Week

Morningside Lights Art Workshops and Procession
Miller Theatre
2 pm-8 pm
All week, all ages can stop by Miller Theatre for free art workshops where you can create your own illuminated cityscape sculptures. Then on the evening of Saturday, September 29, watch a processional of these fantastic, glowing creations! Pre-registration is required for all workshops.

Smithsonian Free Museum Day
Participating museums
Various times
During Free Museum Day, museum-goers have the opportunity to visit participating museums around the nation for free! Simply register online to receive your free ticket for two. New York museum participants include the Skyscraper Museum and the New York Historical Society.

Saturday, September 29-Sunday, September 30
World Maker Faire
New York Hall of Science
Sat: 10 am-7 pm; Sun: 10 am-6 pm
MAKE Magazine’s annual World Maker Faire at the New York Hall of Science is one of the largest crafting and tech fairs around. With tons of original robots, electronics, rockets, food, and more, this event will keep the fam entertained for hours. Admission: $27.50 for adults; $12 for children (ages 2-17).

Sunday, September 30
DayLife Festival
Orchard Street between Delancey and Houston
12 pm-5 pm
This free three-block “urban backyard” festival is everything you could ever want in a street fest–food, shopping, live music, and games. Grab a bite from one of the many food vendors including The Meatball Shop, Tammany Hall, and Libation. Then do a little shopping at places like By Robert James, Grit and Glory, and Con Artist. Lastly, kids can play Twister, badminton, and urban croquet.

The School at the Mark Morris Dance Center

The School’s diverse and professional faculty provides progressive and non-competitive instruction with all of our classes accompanied by live music. Though we are a non-recital school, there are opportunities for students to perform and for parents to see their dancers in action.</span></p>
