With the official kick off of the new school year, kids find themselves settling back in to their daily routine. But never fear–not all fun is lost. The week is full of great events for NYC kids. Here are our cream of the crop pick of activities.

Thursday, September 6
Tech for Tots: Learning with Digital Cameras
Sony Wonder Technology Lab
11 am-12 pm
Budding photographers in pre-k and kindergarten will learn the art of digital photography and snap stellar pics during this one-hour workshop at   the Sony Wonder Technology Lab. Reservations recommended.

Friday, September 7
Communications from a Cockroach: Archy and the Underside
The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine
7:30 pm
The Mettawee River Theatre Company presents Communications from a Cockroach: Archy and the Underside, a play based on sketches by humorist Don Marquis. This humorous puppet play about Archy (a cockroach possessed by the soul of a free-verse poet) and his friends will delight all ages.

Saturday, September 8
Family Day at the Center for Architecture 
The Center for Architecture
11 am-4 pm
Families will learn simple dances and the importance of the human body in the design and structure of buildings. They will also receive a recording of their dance as a memento! Pre-registration is required.

Sunday, September 9
Family Walking Tour 
Museum at Eldridge Street
11 am-12 pm
Ever wonder what it was like growing up on the Lower East Side in the 1880s? Families will find out during this walking tour, which includes stops for pickles and candy. Reservations are required.

Belle da Costa Greene: A Librarian's Legacy

<p>The Morgan Library & Museum will present a major exhibition devoted to the life and career of its inaugural director, Belle da Costa Greene (1879–1950). Widely recognized as an authority on illuminated manuscripts and deeply respected as a cultural heritage executive, Greene was one of the most prominent librarians in American history. The exhibition will trace Greene’s storied life, from her roots in a predominantly Black community in Washington, D.C., to her distinguished career at the helm of one of the world’s great research libraries. Through extraordinary objects―from medieval manuscripts and rare printed books to archival records and portraits―the exhibition will demonstrate the confidence and savvy Greene brought to her roles as librarian, scholar, curator, and cultural executive, and honor her enduring legacy.</p>

Plugged in Band
