Pip's Island, a theatrical adventure for kids and families in NYC, is officially reopening on April 12, and permanently residing at 400 W. 42nd Street at the Pod Hotel. The one-of-a-kind show made its world premiere in 2016 for a limited time and will return for its second chapter, combining immersive sets, original narrative, exploratory spaces, and stimulating audiovisual content. The show will incorporate many parts of the STEAM curriculum.
Audiences are taken on an hour-long “hero's journey,” performed by people, puppets, interactive set-pieces, and animated characters. The cast will navigate a variety of difficulties and games to save the Island from darkness. They collect signature achievement badges, or “sparks,” along the way which parallel various elements of STEAM.
Some fun adventures you can expect from Pip's Island include riding Pebble's Cloud Rover to navigate stormy skies, traveling underground to help Finn outwit the dastardly moles, grabbing a treat at Grumble Plum's bakery and helping build one of her giant specialty cakes, and singing along with Shelly, the princess of the underwater seas.
Pip's Island is designed for ages 4-10, although grownups are encouraged to sign up to reconnect with their childhood imagination. The show is 60 minutes long and it's recommended to arrive 15 minutes early. The show runs daily Wednesday through Monday except Tuesdays.
Tickets are $59 for adults and kids at the box office or $49 online. Discounts are offered for groups and schools.
Additionally, Pip's Island will be offering all-inclusive birthday party packages for up to 50 guests.
