From bedding to bottles, it’s a good idea to put all the essentials you think you’ll need on your baby registry. But there are also some fun items out there that, while not necessary, definitely make life with baby easier and more fun! Here are three items I bought or received post-baby that I recommend to new moms. I could barely have gotten through the first year without them!
Tooli Night Light. This portable nightlight is perfect for checking on baby in the middle of the night or doing diaper changes without having to turn on a lamp or overhead light. It lets off a warm glow that won’t disturb baby. Plus, babies and older kids alike are mesmerized by it’s neat design. It retains its charge for up to 8 hours, and has a sleek base where it can rest when you’re not using it.
Stim Mobile. I actually have three mobiles, but this is the one my son loved the most. Many parents give it rave reviews, and after a family member gave me it I found out why. (I almost returned it, but am so glad I didn’t). Infants are entranced by the simple images, which are a mix of black and white designs and colorful everyday objects like cars and houses.
Ergo Carrier. While most parents seem to start out with the Baby Bjorn, I found that many moms eventually transitioned to the Ergo (or something like it) when their baby was older. You can use it to wear your baby in the front (the most common use) the back, or on the side. It is much easier on the back than other carriers and is super comfortable. You can even use it with an infant if you purchase the infant insert positioner that goes with it.
