Registry Meltdown

I have always dreamed of picking out all the adorable little clothes, the perfect crib sheets, and all the accessories to help build an amazing baby arsenal! My adorable, involved hubby even planned a date-day around going to register and we were both so excited to start scanning. We met with the super-nice people at the registry desk, we filled out the proper paperwork, we got our scanner and check-list, and were cut loose to build a baby registry of cuddly cotton dreams!

We decided to start with a mattress pad for the crib—easy enough right? Anxiety started to rush in…so many brands, so many choices! Organic or not, waterproof or not, extra cushion or not? Yikes! We decided to skip that and go right to something we could handle: baby swings. Again, while so nice to have options, we were flooded with so many choices! Do we go for the glider, the swing, or the vibrating chair? Which has the best reviews? Which is the absolute safest, which will fit easiest in our tiny apartment?

Who knew that such a little person would need so much stuff and we would be so stressed over the choices we made?!

After a time out (and an ice cream cone to take the edge off) we re-grouped. This might be a lesson in preparation for so many parenting choices, and decisions we will make on this crazy journey. Of course we will make the best decision and put our heart and soul into making sure everything is the safest and best quality for baby. But the key word here is best….all we can do as parents is our best. After realizing that and understanding the big picture…scanning was a little easier.
