Children in kindergarten through sixth grades can enjoy their summer vacation by focusing on pre-robotics, robotics, coding using MIT Scratch, and stop-motion animation at robofun™, which is now offering early-bird, friend, and sibling discounts. The summer camp programs will be held June 18-Aug. 31.
Refer-a-Friend discounts will save parents and friends $25-$50 per week on Vacation Day (when school’s are closed) and summer camp enrollment. Plus, an early-bird discount of $75 off each week of full-day (9am-4pm) camp is available for those who register by April 6.
During summer camp programs, kids can partake in pre-robotics or robotics in the morning session, and work on building their own video games and stop motion animation in the afternoon. The programs are created based on age-appropriate activities. For example, kindergarteners will be able to enjoy watching their motorized Lego creations come to life and use Scratch Jr., with which they make their own interactive computer games; children in first-third grade can also have fun building with Legos in addition to using WeDo, Legos’ software for creating 2-D and 3-D designs; and children in fourth-sixth grade can use EV3 Lego motors, microprocessors, and sensors for their robotic creations.
“Robofun believes in giving back,” says Leah Lubman, associate director of programs. She encourages parents to follow robofun™ on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Pinterest to see how the program is partnering with the Department of Education, parents, and teachers to support robotics education at schools in and around NYC, in addition to updates and savings opportunities.
On-site 1-on-1 and small group private lessons, as well as off-site lessons (Manhattan area only) are also available.
